How to draw names for Secret Santa online

  1. Name your exchange and set a gift budget and exchange date.
  2. Add everyone taking part, with an optional wish list for each person.
  3. Add any pairs who should not draw each other, like couples or roommates.
  4. Tap Draw names. Each person gets a private link showing only who they are buying for.
  5. Send each link to its owner by text, email or chat. Your organizer page shows who has opened theirs.

Secret Santa rules that keep it fun

  • Set one budget and stick to it, so nobody feels outspent.
  • Ask everyone for a short wish list, even just three likes, so gifts land.
  • Keep your person secret until the exchange. That is the whole game.
  • Pick an exchange date at least a week after the draw so there is time to shop.
  • Swap in person if you can, and guess who your Santa was before the reveal.

How does the Secret Santa generator keep it secret?

The names are drawn on our server, not in your browser, and the organizer never sees the pairs. Each person gets their own private link that shows only who they are buying for, so the organizer can take part too.

Can I stop couples from drawing each other?

Yes. Add a rule for any two people who should not draw each other, such as couples, roommates or people who already exchange gifts. The draw respects the rule in both directions.

Do I need everyone’s email address?

No. You send each person their link however you like: text message, email, Slack or a group chat. We do not collect email addresses or require sign-up.

What if someone loses their link?

Keep the page of links open or copy them somewhere safe after the draw. Your organizer page shows who has opened their link so you can nudge anyone who has not.

How many people can be in one exchange?

Between 3 and 60 people. Exchanges are deleted automatically 60 days after they are created.

What is a good Secret Santa budget?

Most office and friend-group exchanges set a budget between $20 and $50. Pick one number everyone can afford and put it in the budget box so it shows on every link.
